Summer Reading

Summer 2023

Summer reading time is here again!

You must read at least two books this summer. The reading lists for each grade have recommended titles. For two of the books you read, you must complete a novel outline. In September, your new English teacher will be collecting these outlines.

Summer reading books are available to borrow from the GFMS school library until June 22 of this year, with a signed permission note, available from the library or from your teacher.

Books are also available through the public library, with a library card. If your local library does not have the title you want, you can request it online through the Mid-Hudson Library Catalog. The book can be sent to your local library for you. A public library card also allows you to enjoy the wonderful programs they offer in the summer and throughout the year.

Remember, the eBook app called Sora is available to you through Classlink, using your school account. The reading list indicates ebooks (digital books) available. Sora makes the District ebook collection available, which is small. However, if you “Add a Library,” as the Sora site offers, and tap the three bars on the right side, and ask for Mid-Hudson Library System, the entire public library eBook collection will become available to you through your school account!

Have a great summer and enjoy this opportunity to read great books! We look forward to discussing your selections with you in September. If you have any questions about the summer reading program, please feel free to contact the school at (845) 228-2300.
