Mr. Fisher's Sixth Grade Mathematics

Mathematics Overview:

Throughout the school year mathematics will be taught with the objective of providing your child with the life skills necessary for success.  Our goal is to broaden and deepen your child's ability to reason logically, think abstractly, and develop a positive attitude toward math.  Students will understand and become mathematically confident by communicating and applying math in real-world settings.

Interactive Digital Math Program:

The GFMS Math 6 Team will use digits, an on-line interactive math program, for classroom instruction and student assignments. It was developed to provide comprehensive coverage of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. This program is not a replacement of any classroom instruction. The classes will be taught using notes, manipulatives, PowerPoints, tests, activities and direct instruction by the classroom teacher. •You and your child can access homework assignments and other material through this on-line system from a computer with internet access. This product is safe and appropriate for students. •Digits’ on-line homework enables students to receive instant feedback as they complete assignments. It provides a help feature in the event that they have difficulty solving the problems and contains intervention lessons that can be explored based on individual needs. Due to the difficulty of some of the questions, this help feature will ensure that students are ready for the next class period with the necessary pre-requisite skills. Students benefit from engaging, personalized digital homework and reinforcement that build important math skills. •There will be an in-depth tutorial on the use of this program during class.
