School board members play an important role in the success of our schools and our community. They volunteer their time, attend meetings, review policies and budgets, learn about the many challenges facing public education, and make decisions with the needs of our students and families in mind.

The impact of their hard work can be seen throughout our schools each day.

“Our CCSD Board of Education members give so much of their time to help make sure every Carmel student has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed,” said Michael Plotkin, Superintendent of Schools. “Being a school board member isn’t easy. It’s a big responsibility, and they do it all as volunteers. I really appreciate the time, thought and care each of our Board members puts into supporting our students, our schools and our community.”

During School Board Recognition Week, the district encourages students, families, staff and community members to join us in thanking our Board of Education members for all they do on behalf of Carmel’s students and schools.

If you see a Carmel Central School District Board of Education member at a meeting, attending a school event or just out in the community, please take a moment to thank them for their service.

“It takes strong schools to build a strong community," Mr. Plotkin said. "Our Board members give their time and energy because they care deeply about our district. Let's make sure they know that we are grateful for their leadership, dedication and service throughout the year.”
